The noble eightfold path

The eightfold path is the way out of suffering which consists of eight aspects in life. If one desires to attain enlightenment one must take the eightfold path which is described as followed: 1. Right view The right view means seeing things as they actually are. Therefore also to believe in the idea that actions have consequences and death isn't the end of it all. 2. Right intention This means to intend to become one with nature instead of getting caught up in material possessions and sensual pleasures. 3. Right speech It is advised to only speak the direct truth without lying, rude language, gossip or incessant talk. 4. Right conduct This expresses not to harm others and to be able to control our dark thoughts and desires. 5. Right livelihood Meaning only to do what is needed to survive and not to work a profession that offends or harms oneself or others. 6. Right effort It is suggested to put effort into preventing unjust systems or wrong actions. 7. Right mindfulness Right mindfulness can be attained by observing our body as well as our mind while learning new wisdom in everyday life. 8. Right concentration and practice This means practicing proper meditation in order to gain control over the mind so one can maintain points 1-7. By: A. Moser
